Sunlight’s launching a new legislative initiative at a new site called publicmarkup.org. We’ve pulled together legislation and rules changes from various bills, and drafted a number of entirely new provisions, to create a bill that comprehensively addresses transparency reform. While this bill borrows from the initiatives and ideas of a larger community of advocates and staff with government reform ideas, we know that the ideas in the Transparency in Government Act will only benefit from your ideas and commentary.
Several of the provisions are the direct result of the Open House Project, and the conversations and ideas that have grown out of it. Since PublicMarkup combines public participation with a substantial legislation, we expect lawmakers and staff who work on these issues to be aware of the conversations dealing with the issues they work on, so commenting on this bill may be a great opportunity to have your ideas considered.
